NORMAN — Local Sooners and childhood teammates Brady Manek and Kristian Doolittle traded clutch moments Monday night at Lloyd Noble Center, but Iowa State escaped thanks to Marial Shayok’s improbable step-back 3-pointer.
That shot broke the tie with 1:19 left, and Iowa State made its free throws to leave Norman with a 75-74 win. Oklahoma (15-8, 3-7 Big 12) has lost three consecutive conference games.
The Sooners and Cyclones traded shot-clock-beating buckets down the stretch. First it was Manek with an off-balance 3-pointer with 3:25 left. That was followed by an Iowa State alley-oop. OU senior Christian James tied the game on a breakaway layup with 1:51 left before Shayok’s miraculous shot.
