LOUISVILLE, KY. — For the first six innings Friday afternoon, the Oklahoma baseball team looked overwhelmed in its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013.
Xavier left-hander Zac Lowther dominated the Sooners, allowing just two hits and striking out seven in that span.
Then came the seventh inning. OU (35-22) scored all its runs in that inning to beat Xavier 7-2 in the opening round tournament game at the University of Louisville's Jim Patterson Stadium. Twelve Sooners went to the plate, and at one point, nine consecutive batters reached safely.
Cade Harris delivered the big blow with the bases loaded.
