NORMAN — Joe Castiglione doesn't like to be singled out.
As Oklahoma's athletics director for the last 20 years, he prefers to step in the shadows and give the full spotlight to the Sooners' athletic teams and his staff.
Castiglione arrived to Thursday's Oklahoma Board of Regents meeting to support the five teams being honored for winning conference championships, but a surprise item added to the agenda made it impossible for him to avoid the spotlight.
At the conclusion of the team honors, the regents passed a resolution to recognize Castiglione for 20 years of great service, awarding him with a framed certificate of recognition, a thunderous applause and — after a quick executive session — a raise of more than $200,000.
