Oklahoma State coach Josh Holliday wasn't about to take any chances with his pitching going into the NCAA Regional at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Holliday went with his ace and it paid off Friday, as Jensen Elliott threw seven scoreless innings in the Cowboys' 2-0 win over Harvard.
Oklahoma State, the top seed in the regional, advances to play Nebraska at 7 p.m. Saturday. Harvard and UConn will meet in an elimination game at 1 p.m.
The Cowboys (37-18) got all the runs they needed in the first inning after a one-out double by Colin Simpson set up Andrew Navigato's RBI ground out a batter later.
