Opinion: Players' actions could determine college football's fate

Many are the people who will make or break this college football season. With the coronavirus cases surging and the sport’s first games scheduled for two months from Monday, college football’s status for an on-time start, much less an on-time finish, is far from secure.

Decisions, decisions. When to bring back players to campus? How often to test? How to adjust workouts? When to cancel games? How many fans are allowed in the stands? How big of a breakout before the season is suspended? A thousand factors to consider.

Athletic departments, university administrators, public health officials and politicians will make those decisions.
