NORMAN — In the days after Dede Westbrook's violent past was uncovered by a Tulsa World news story in December, the University of Oklahoma ran a background check on the wide receiver.
Two years prior, the general background check run by the same system didn't return any evidence of a criminal history.
The same was true this time around.
The check, conducted by CLEAR, an investigation software developed by Thomson Reuters, didn't produce the Biletnikoff winner's arrest record in Cameron, Texas, where he had been twice detained for family violence complaints in 2012 and 2013.
