Trailing by four points, 49-45, after three quarters, Oklahoma outscored its Red River rivals 29-7 in the final quarter to defeat the Texas Lady Longhorns going away, 74-56.
After suffering a 16-point defeat earlier in the week against unranked Kansas State, the No. 21 Lady Sooners broke open a fairly close game with a dominant fourth-quarter performance that left Texas wondering what it had been hit by.
The win by Sherri Coale’s Sooners avenged an earlier loss to the Lady Longhorns, 83-76, in Austin. Texas shot 50 percent in winning the first game this season between the longtime archrivals, but cooled off considerably in the rematch on Saturday.
