Host Kentucky defeated the Lady Sooners in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Tournament.
The Lady Wildcats, the No. 3 seed in the Lexington Region, broke open a close game after the first quarter and gradually pulled away from No. 6 seed Oklahoma to post a convincing 78-59 victory.
The Lady Sooners trailed by a single point at the end of the first quarter, 20-19, and were down by eight points at the intermission. Kentucky stretched its lead to 10 points after three quarters and closed out the game with a 23-12 final quarter to punch its ticket to a sixth Sweet 16 appearance in the past seven seasons.
