After an Oklahoma State penalty, the Chippewas scored on an untimed down, which consisted of a hail mary and a lateral, to pull the 30-27 upset.

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy repeatedly referred to his team's record as having one less loss throughout the season, at one point saying both OSU and Central Michigan should be credited with a win.
