The Oklahoma Sooners were able to climb a pair of spots to No. 8 in the this week’s AP rankings but are still ranked No. 9 in the Coaches Poll. Since Oklahoma’s head-to-head win over Ohio State was apparently a figment of my imagination, the Buckeyes are ranked third in both polls. Penn State, who lost to Ohio State in Columbus, is also ranked ahead of Oklahoma in both polls. Luckily, these polls don’t matter. Let’s see what things look like on Tuesday night when the College Football Playoff committee releases its first poll of the season.
