The Oklahoma Sooners hoped recently-reported freshman DT and recent Michael Thompson could potentially add some depth right off the bat this fall, but any hope of contributing early has gone out the window. On Wednesday afternoon, Thompson announced via Twitter that he will miss time due to a torn ACL. He was a four-star recruit (No. 4 DT) coming out of Parkway North High School in St. Louis and chose Oklahoma over Missouri on National Signing Day.
Sadly i won’t be competing this fall due to a torn ACL I’ll be back better than ever

Thompson was a potential redshirt candidate to begin with, but this type of thing sets back the progression of the promising young player for several months.
