Happy Monday, everybody!
Derek Green, a former Oklahoma Sooners DT who had left the program after enrolling early, has chosen to transfer to Vanderbilt. Vandy247’s Chad Bishop has more:
In the interview, Green made some comments about why he chose to leave Oklahoma. “I get to Oklahoma and it’s not what it’s advertised,” Green said. “I had some issues with the coaching staff and I decided I wanted out.”
After the offseason’s defensive overhaul that included a scheme change under new DC Alex Grinch, none of this was particularly surprising. Green, a three-star recruit coming out of high school, had the potential to play a future role on the Sooners’ defense under the old order, but Grinch’s “Speed D” didn’t really suit his mold and skill set.
