As the 2018 college football season draws closer, preseason rankings of all kinds are beginning to churn out. ESPN unveiled its top 50 players in the nation this morning, and a couple of Oklahoma Sooners — Kyler Murray and Rodney Anderson — made the list at 38th and 44th, respectively.
Some have already questioned whether having Murray at 38th is a bit premature, given the small sample size, and that’s a fair point. Personally, I think it’s strange that Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa is ranked 11th when he’s basically played one half of college football (albeit a very important one), and Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins (ranked 32nd) is in a similar position to Murray in regards to playing experience.
