Baker Mayfield tweeted out this apology shortly following the conclusion of Saturday’s 41-3 win over Kansas.
It takes a big man to admit when he messed up, and that’s exactly what Baker did here. He didn’t try to make excuses even though he had a right to be upset after the Kansas captains refused to shake his hand and Hasan Defense tried to decapitate him well after the play was over. Baker’s actions on the field were not great, but I personally think the entire situation was completely overblown, particularly by Greg McElroy and Dave Pasch who spent almost the entire second half skewering Mayfield as if he’d just committed murder.
