Friday night's series opener against West Virginia was a classic pitcher's duel in every sense of the term. Oklahoma's Jake Elliott and the Mountaineers' BJ Myers sat down batters with regularity as both teams struggled to get on base against the barrage of pitches coming in from the mound. Both went seven plus innings in their outing and both gave up just a handful of hits on the evening.
In 7.1 innings of work Elliott gave up just two hits and struck out eight batters in holding West Virginia scoreless for the first time this season. Justin Fox and Jackson Cramer were the only two Mountaineers to register a hit against Elliott on the night as Oklahoma's junior improved his season record to 4-3.
