Oklahoma starter Kelsey Stevens worked her way around two baserunners, in the top of the first, produce a scoreless inning for the Longhorns. Texas was able to reciprocate thanks to a double-play and the stage was set for another epic battle between OU and their rivals from the south.
The pitcher's duel lasted until the third inning, despite a close call in the second. Kandy Self led off the bottom of the second with a single to right and then two batters later Fake Aviu singled up the middle. Nicole Pendley added the third single of the inning to load the bases but the Sooners would leave them loaded and head quietly back into the dugout.
