VETERAN RACING PROMOTER LANNY EDWARDS DIES
Lanny Edwards, who spent several years as a dirt-car racing promoter at now-defunct State Fair Speedway in Oklahoma City, died Friday. He was 76.
Edwards was also the co-founder of the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa. The Chili Bowl, held indoors each January, is considered the most prestigious race in midget sprint car racing.
The National Sprint Car Hall of Famer also owned Lawton Speedway, the Devil's Bowl in Mesquite, Texas, and RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas. Edwards had a hand in creating the World of Outlaws professional sprint car series.
