First of all, the Roadrunners tied for second this season in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) with an 11-3 league record and an overall 24-8 mark for the season. They earned the WAC’s automatic NCAA berth by defeating New Mexico State, the regular-season champion, on a last-second three-point shot by Dedrick Basile with just a fraction of a second remaining on the game clock.
This will be the first meeting ever between Oklahoma and Cal State-Bakersfield. There is a common thread that currently connects the two schools, however.
