Oklahoma's Buddy Hield (24) gives a 3-point salute during the second half against Texas Christian on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Oklahoma won, 75-67.
Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield added another accolade to what's already been a productive season for the senior.
Sporting News announced Hield as its 2015-16 Player of the Year. It was a tight race, but he narrowly beat out Michigan State's Denzel Valentine, writes Mike DeCoury.
DeCoury believes Hield won the award early in the year. But it was against an opponent most wouldn't expect.
