NORMAN — Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops and offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley are both confident that true freshman Austin Kendall will be fine as the Sooners’ second-team quarterback next season.
Kendall, a four-star prospect from Waxhaw, N.C., is enrolled for this semester and will work out with the team during spring practice.
Trevor Knight transferred to Texas A&M and Cody Thomas will focus on baseball this spring, leaving just Baker Mayfield, Kendall and A&M transfer Kyler Murray as the only scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.
Murray is ineligible to play in 2016 because of NCAA transfer rules.
