Oklahoma football: Roy Manning brings fire to Sooners coaching staff

The Oklahoma Sooners’ defensive coaching staff is at full strength for now after the hiring of Roy Manning from UCLA Tuesday afternoon.

He played at Michigan from 200-04, then spent three years bouncing around the NFL with stops in Jacksonville, Houston, Buffalo, Green Bay and Cincinnati.

He has coached at Cincinnati, Michigan, Washington State (under Grinch) and most recently UCLA.

Manning is versatile with experience coaching running backs, outside linebackers, special teams and cornerbacks, which is where i will serve at Oklahoma.

Lincoln Riley praised Manning’s recruiting ablity in the university’s official press release:
