On Jan. 16 Jalen Hurts announced that he would leave the university of Alabama to play football for the university of Oklahoma.
Hurts started as a true freshmen for the Crimson Tide, becoming the 2016 SEC offensive player of the year with 2,780 yards passing and 23 touchdowns. He also added 954 yards rushing and 13 more touchdowns to total 36 on the season.
After losing the national championship game against Deshaun Watson’s Clemson Tigers, Hurts came back with a vengeance. He led Alabama to the national championship game yet again, but after a poor first half coach Nick Saban decided to substitute him for Tua Tagovailoa, and the rest was history.
