Oklahoma football: OU, Tulane agree to three-game series in 2017, 2021 and 2024

NORMAN -- Oklahoma and Tulane will meet on the football field for the first time.

The two schools announced a three-game series beginning Sept. 16, 2017 in Norman. The Sooners will play at Tulane's New Orleans stadium in 2021, and the Green Wave returns to Norman in 2024. Dates for the second two games haven't been determined.

The announcement completes OU's 2017 non-conference schedule. The Sooners open that season Sept. 2 at home against UTEP, then play at Ohio State a week later.

Oklahoma has played seven games in New Orleans, most recently stunning No. 3 Alabama 45-31 in the 2014 Sugar Bowl.
