Oklahoma football: OU shores up borders with in-state commit

Oklahoma football has drawn some light criticism in recent years for neglecting in-state recruits (particularly on the defensive side of the ball) for the sake expanding its ever-growing national recruiting footprint, but the Sooners made a big statement to home-grown talent by taking Bishop McGuiness linebacker Brynden Walker.

The Sooners lost out on arguably the two best in-state prospects in the past two seasons in Daxton Hill (Michigan) and Josh Proctor (Ohio State), but the new linebackers coach and former Oklahoma alumnus Brian Odom showed he isn’t sleeping on home grown talent.

The Sooners were able to flip Walker, who was originally committed to Oklahoma State, over the weekend.
