Lincoln Riley says he’s not opposed to picking a quarterback before mid-August. But who wants to be he won’t do it again?
Riley has made a cottage industry of stringing along quarterback derbies, waiting until less than two weeks before the season opener to announce Baker Mayfield over Trevor Knight, Kyler Murray over Austin Kendall and Jalen Hurts over Tanner Mordecai.
So the spring battle between Mordecai and Spencer Rattler figures to go deep into August.
“I’m certainly not opposed to, if we had a clear-cut starter after spring, of doing something then,” Riley said Monday at his spring-football press conference.
