Murray, a junior, completed 241-of-340 passes for 4,5-3 yards and 40 touchdowns. He added 892 yards rushing on the ground.
Murray captured 517 first-place votes, 278 second-place tallies and 80 for third place. Runner up Tua Tangovailoa had 299, 431 and 112 and third-place Dwayne Haskins had 46, 111 andn 432, respectively.
Murray thanked former his parents, teammates, former head coach Bob Stoops and current head coach Lincoln Riley (both in attendance) during his acceptance speech.
He closed his speech with the appropriate ending of, “Thank you, and Boomer!”
He is the sixth Oklahoma player to finish as a finalist for the Heisman award this century, joining Josh Heupel, Jason White, Adrian Peterson, Sam Bradford, Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook.
