Redshirt freshman Kennedy Brooks was named Newcomer of the Week in the Big 12 after gaining 165 yards rushing, including three touchdowns, in the Sooners’ 48-47 victory over in-state rival Oklahoma State. Seventy-four of those yards came in the deciding fourth quarter.
Brooks had runs of 45, 20, 18 and a 39-yard run in the fourth quarter on Saturday that set up Oklahoma’s winning touchdown.
The Oklahoma running back from Mansfield, Texas, has 640 rushing yards and nine touchdowns and has averaged 11.2 yards in 57 carries in seven games this season. He has exceeded 100 yards in three different games and totaled 589 rushing yards in his last six games.
