Oklahoma football: Kansas has numbers early before Sooner ‘O’ unloads

The Sooners improved to 5-0 on the season and set the stage for a major top-15 showdown with prime rival Texas in the Cotton Bowl next Saturday.

After forcing a punt — only the seventh by OU all season — on the Sooners opening possession, Kansas drove 98 yards in nine plays to score the first points against the Sooners in the first quarter this season. It also marked the first time all season OU had played from behind.

The Jayhawk advantage lasted just a minute and a half, however, as Hurts led Oklahoma on a 77-yard drive that Trey Sermon finished off with a two-yard touchdown run.
