Lincoln Riley defended Kyler Murray from typical NFL Combine scuttlebutt, which for most quarterback prospects always ranges from critiques of can’t-miss to he’s-a-bum. I completely believe Riley when he says Murray is a consummate leader and everything you want in a quarterback.
But Riley is also the guy who six months ago told us that Murray was in a tight derby with Austin Kendall for the Oklahoma quarterback job.
Chances are great that Riley was closer to the truth on Wednesday than he was last August. Murray somehow beat out Kendall for the job, then beat out every player in America for the Heisman Trophy.
