NORMAN — Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops said Tuesday he “feels comfortable” saying that senior Frank Shannon will probably start this weekend at inside linebacker for an injured Jordan Evans.
Evans, OU’s second-leading tackler, suffered a left leg injury during last weekend’s 55-0 win over Kansas State. Stoops said coaches won’t know for sure if Evans can play Saturday against Texas Tech until later in the week, but that “he’s not 100 percent and he’s still having some problems getting up and getting some lift from his leg.”
Should Evans be unable to play, Shannon would make his first start since the 2014 Sugar Bowl win over Alabama.
