Oklahoma football was the first Power Five team to win four-straight conference championships in more than 20 years, one of only three teams to make three College Football Playoffs and third in overall winning percentage since 2009 behind only Clemson and Boise State.
Still, there’s a noticeable difference between the level the Sooners have ascended to and the plane on which college football’s two elite programs – Clemson and Alabama – have attained.
The Sooners are 0-2 in College Football Playoff games against the Tigers and Crimson Tide, the two programs that have combined to win the last four national championships and have played against each other in three of those four contests.
