NORMAN — When the Oklahoma football freshman class arrived for its first fall camp, one player showed up a day late. A short, rail-thin defensive back, this player looked more ready for accounting school than Big Eight football.
Still, when coach Barry Switzer gathered his freshmen away from the rest of that 1984 team, he pulled this skinny kid to the front.
“Don't let his size fool you,” Switzer told a group that included Troy Aikman, Keith Jackson and Lydell Carr.
