NORMAN — Continuing with the tradition of giving opportunities to former Sooner players, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops added Jamarkus McFarland to his staff as a graduate assistant coach.
McFarland, whose 2008 recruitment was chronicled in a memorable New York Times piece, graduated from OU in 2013. He appeared in 47 career games for the Sooners, recording 81 tackles and 7.5 sacks in his four years in Norman.
A Lufkin, Texas, native, McFarland is the latest in a string of former Sooners to become members of Stoops’ staff, joining such names as Josh Heupel, Corey Callens, Marcus Walker and Joey Halzle.
