Oklahoma football: DeBerry, Kelly show glimpse of Sooners' defensive future

NORMAN — As freshman Caleb Kelly stepped onto the field at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium Saturday night, he looked down the row of linebackers settling into place and saw his friend, redshirt freshman Ricky DeBerry.

It was a moment the two had frequently talked about. Neither started a game all season, but DeBerry got the nod in place of injured Obo Okoronkwo and Kelly earned the other starting outside linebacker position ahead of Kapri Doucet.

“All the time, we're talking about how we have to be the future and do this and do that,” Kelly said after the 56-3 win.
