A day after it was reported that Oklahoma backup quarterback Cody Thomas would leave the football program to concentrate on playing baseball, the move was officially announced Sunday.
"I'm always for my players doing what they feel is best for them," Sooners coach Bob Stoops said in a statement. "Cody has a dream to play baseball and he feels this is good for him. We support him and hope for the best for him."
Thomas played for the OU baseball team during the 2014 season, appearing in 14 games with one start and picking up one hit in 12 at bats.
