Oklahoma football: Chip Viney moves into special teams quality control position

NORMAN — Oklahoma defensive graduate assistant coach Courtney “Chip” Viney will stay with the program as a special teams quality control coach, Bob Stoops announced Wednesday.

Viney had been a graduate assistant the last three years, and his time as a GA had run out, as he recently graduated with a master’s degree.

“Courtney has been a great person for us, a great recruiter,” Stoops said. “He has a bright future, really does. He’s a great communicator and an excellent coach.”

Viney, a former cornerback at UCLA and New Mexico State, is originally from Fresno, Calif.
