The 6-foot, 3-inch, 231-pound junior from Fresno, California, has been named to the preseason watch list for the Wuerfell Trophy. The Wuerfell Trophy is awarded every season to the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) player who best combines community service along with athletic and academic achievement.
Kelly, who also is on the 2018 watch list for the Butkus Award, presented annually to the best linebacker in college football.
Kelly ranked seventh on the OU team with 56 tackles last season and was second with four quarterback hurries. The Sooners’ top recruit in the 2015 class, Kelly forced what could have been a game-winning fumble and recovery against Georgia in the College Football Playoff last season.
