Bob Stoops doesn’t sound like a coach who finally has football out of his blood.
Stoops returned to the gridiron this year with the Dallas Renegades, and that dalliance now is over. But Stoops didn’t quit on the fledgling XFL; the XFL quit on Stoops.
You can’t blame Vince McMahon’s startup league. The coronavirus shutdown of American sports caused the XFL to suspend its schedule after a half season, and Monday, the XFL filed for bankruptcy. There’s no official declaration the XFL is gone for good, but no one believes it will come back.
Which to Stoops, is a shame.
