The Sooners and the Black Knights have met three times previously, the last of which was 67 years ago, in 1961.
Oklahoma lost to Army 21-7 in 1946, in the first meeting between the two schools. That was the same year that coach Earl Blaik’s cadets won their third straight national championship. Oklahoma won the next two games in the all-time series, 28-20 in 1959 in Norman and 14-8 at New York’s Yankee Stadium in 1961.
Saturday’s game is the first of a two-game, home-and-home series between the two historic college football programs. The reciprocal game will be played in September 2020, when the Sooners will play at West Point (New York).
