The history of Oklahoma football is rich in tradition and unbridled success and covers more than a century. As you might imagine, there have been quite a few memorable games over that stretch. Most of the Sooners’ national recognition on the gridiron has occurred over the last 66 seasons, or since 1950. Because of that, we have narrowed the span of time for this memory walk back through history, from 1950 to the present.
Since legendary head coach Bud Wilkinson took over at Oklahoma in the late 1940s, the Sooners have won 609 football games, lost 181 and played to 11 ties.
