Oklahoma experiencing recruiting resurgence in the Metroplex

DALLAS -- If there is one area in Texas where Oklahoma has to have a strong presence on the recruiting trail, it’s the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

For more than a decade under Bob Stoops, the Sooners have won a number of impactful recruiting battles in north Texas. The list includes Rhett Bomar, Demarcus Granger, R.J. Washington and Corey Nelson. While the names have not appeared on Pro Bowl, or even NFL rosters outside of Nelson, all four players were huge recruiting wins over in-state powers Texas and Texas A&M, and a number of top programs nationally.

But all that success seemingly disappeared following a 41-13 Cotton Bowl loss to Texas A&M and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel.
