The two schools with the fewest NCAA titles went wire-to-wire Saturday night in the 2016 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships.
In front of a crowd of 8,338 at the Fort Worth Convention Center, Oklahoma edged Louisiana State, Alabama and three-time defending champion Florida to win the second NCAA gymnastics championship in school history.
“What do you say?” Oklahoma coach K.J. Kindler said. “One of our girls tweeted this morning, ‘Felt like Christmas Eve last night, I couldn't sleep,' and it really felt like Christmas today.”
Oklahoma became the first school to win women's and men's gymnastic titles in the same season after the men won the title Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.
