Carl Crawford still wonders what it would have been like to play college football, and now that he’s in Oklahoma City he can look south to Norman and reminisce about his college recruitment by Oklahoma.
A two-sport star at Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Crawford was recruited by the Sooners entering his senior year in 1999, only to choose to sign with Nebraska.
He was then selected in the second round by Tampa Bay that summer and signed to play baseball. He’s now a four-time All-Star and also a Gold Glove winner who is in the fifth year of a seven-year contract worth $142 million.
