Oklahoma basketball: Sooners stay atop AP poll despite loss

NORMAN—Oklahoma's reign atop The Associated Press poll continues.

Despite losing to Iowa State a week ago, the Sooners kept the top spot in The AP poll, six points ahead of No. 2 North Carolina.

Oklahoma has 1,592 points and 36 first-place votes. The Tar Heels have 1,586 points and 29 first-place votes.

The Sooners (16-2, 5-2 Big 12) host Texas Tech at 6 p.m. Tuesday before playing at LSU on Saturday.

Oklahoma did drop a spot in the USA Today coaches' poll but still received nine first-place votes while North Carolina received 23.
