Oklahoma basketball: No. 3 Sooners close strong to edge No. 11 Iowa State

NORMAN — After a miserable first half, Isaiah Cousins turned in a memorable second half, scoring all 15 of his points after the break to give No. 3 Oklahoma an 87-83 win over No. 11 Iowa State on Saturday night.

The Sooners (12-0, 1-0 Big 12) trailed for much of the game before Cousins' 3-pointer — one of three in the second half for the senior guard — put the Sooners up for good with less than five minutes remaining.

Buddy Hield hit two free throws with 3.2 seconds remaining to seal the win. Hield finished with 22 while Ryan Spangler added 20 and 12 rebounds.
