OU’s super freshman has become such a fixture receiving the Big 12 Player of the Week award that the conference might do well to permanently affix his name to the honor.
Young scored 27 points in Oklahoma’s win over Big 12 co-leader Texas Tech on Tuesday, then went ballistic with 43 points, including 10 treys, in the Sooners’ overtime victory over TCU on Saturday. Both of those wins came at home against ranked opponents (Texas Tech was ranked eighth and TCU 16th).
This marks the sixth time in 10 weeks that the Norman native has been named Big 12 Player of the Week, and the eighth time in the 10-week period that Young has been honored as either Player of the Week or Newcomer of the Week in the conference.
