NORMAN — Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield's case for national player of the year keeps getting stronger.
Hield scored 31 points as the No. 2 Sooners beat Kansas State 86-76 in front of a sold-out crowd at Lloyd Noble Center on Saturday.
Hield was 11 of 14 from the field, including 6 of 8 from behind the 3-point line.
But even with Hield's huge day, Oklahoma couldn't put the game away until less than five minutes remained when the Wildcats couldn't get closer than nine and Khadeem Lattin cut through the lane for a layup to extend the lead back to 11.
