When you think of the University of Oklahoma in the context of college sports, the first thing that quickly comes to mind is football, and then maybe basketball or gymnastics, but Oklahoma baseball also has made a national name for itself.
This is the 116th season of varsity baseball at Oklahoma. On Sunday, the Sooners defeated Kansas State by a lopsided score of 12-0 for their 24th win of the 2016 season. That victory marked a milestone win for the Oklahoma baseball program. It was number 2,500 for a program that has endured 116 mostly successful years and had just nine head coaches in its long history.
