The name “Joe” was ringing up and down the first-base dugout at Bricktown Ballpark on Thursday morning.
But there were no players named “Joe” or “Joseph” in sight.
“We talk about nine guys named Joe,” Oklahoma coach Skip Johnson said. “Everybody is named Joe. Joe got the credit and they played with their hearts.”
The Sooners' Joe mentality got them through what could've been a rough day with a 3-1 win over top-seeded Texas to eliminate the Longhorns at the Big 12 Tournament.
They needed some help from the somewhat anonymous faces in the dugout to stay alive.
