Olivia Thompson reached her breaking point in late December, when her husband was off to Orlando, Fla., with his football team and she didn’t have anyone to watch her children while she worked at a local 7-Eleven.
“I had to quit or they were gonna fire me,” she said. “It wasn’t good either way.”
Almost immediately after the Sooners’ Russell Athletic Bowl loss, though, things got a little better for Tyrus and Olivia Thompson. Finally unshackled from NCAA rules, they could accept help and Olivia could stay home with 2-year-old son King and 11-month-old daughter Aria while Tyrus prepared for the NFL Draft.
